The Iris Center came to A Brand Above with a bold vision: to redefine healthcare in a way that is inclusive, affordable, and trauma-informed. They had the expertise and passion, but needed a brand that could carry the weight of their mission. We helped transform their notes and sketches into a full identity, campaign system, website, and collateral suite that spoke directly to patients, donors, and partners. Today, The Iris Center stands as a beacon in Fort Collins: an affirming, community-beneficiary clinic with transparent pricing and a model that feels as human as it is radical.

The re:define campaign reframed everyday words to carry inclusivity and compassion. Paired with the I Am Human campaign, the language became a tool to connect deeply with patients, donors, and the wider community.

Building a Healthcare Brand From Scratch

The Iris Center began as a vision shared by a group of doctors determined to challenge a broken system. Their notes outlined a care model that would serve people first, cutting out insurance, prioritizing accessibility, and building trauma-informed services for all. They needed more than a logo. They needed a brand that could explain, inspire, and build trust with patients, donors, and fiscal sponsors.

A Brand Above partnered with them at every step. We named and defined their archetypes as both caregiver and rebel, and built a foundation that honored both. Their logo, typography, and colors reflect inclusivity and strength without leaning on clichés. Their tagline and voice were crafted to communicate trust, compassion, and quiet authority. Every touchpoint was considered: from patient-facing handouts to fundraising decks, everything carries the same cohesive message.

Campaigns That Spark Connection

To help The Iris Center raise awareness and secure funding, we created two cornerstone campaigns. re:define challenged people to rethink everyday language through an inclusive lens. I Am Human centered dignity, visibility, and shared experience, positioning the clinic as more than a medical provider, but a movement. Both campaigns translated across print, digital, and social, giving the center a way to connect with their community and inspire donors.

Designing for Access and Growth

The Iris Center’s Squarespace site was built to be as welcoming as their clinic. It explains their community-beneficiary model, highlights transparent pricing, and offers password-protected resources for patients and providers. We integrated donation flows, scheduling options, and clear pathways for both fiscal sponsors and new patients. Now, visitors move seamlessly from curiosity to action.

As they prepare to open their Fort Collins doors in October 2025, our collaboration has expanded into branded signage, office interiors, and patient experience design. Every element reinforces their mission: care that is affirming, accessible, and built for real people.

Positioning The Iris Center as both caregiver and rebel allowed us to tell a story of trust and disruption at the same time. This dual archetype gave their communications a rare edge: grounded compassion with the courage to challenge convention.
